skin care

Although it is reckoned we all have a double somewhere in the world, the truth of the matter is that we are all different. We all have little characteristics that set us apart from others and skin type and the skin care we take, is one of them. Skin care is vital and is becoming more and more prevalent. The skin is the largest organ of the human body and protects the body from injury, infection, dehydration and harmful ultra-violet rays. It consists of two main layers: an outer layer (epidermis) and an inner layer (dermis). There is a constant action of cells dying and cells regenerating in the skin. The more nutrients the cells receive at this stage from an outside source, the longer the cells will take to degenerate, the more youthful your appearance will be - the cosmetic reason for skin care!

There are several different skin types, so skin care differs from person to person. With oily skin exfoliating is a must as it is more prone to congestion, which often results in spots and blackheads. Dry skin care on the other hand necessitates moisturising thoroughly and regularly, especially in heavily polluted surroundings. The dry complexion is far more easily wrinkled if exposed to too much sunlight than oily skin as it tends to be sensitive, so products with hydrating agents are required. Skin care of mature skin is also very important. Aging is inevitable, but the effects can be contained to a large degree by following an anti-aging life-style, and proper skin care by means of appropriate cleaning and moisturising can have a terrific effect, not only on the appearance, but also the self-confidence of the individual.

With the skin being dependant on the body, it is of utmost importance to get rid of any toxic build-up in the body on a regular basis, with thorough skin care. Acne happens when the oil producing glands of the skin gets inflamed which results in skin eruptions - from mild blackheads and spots, to infectious cysts. So the need for effective and constant skin care couldn’t be more apparent. The skin is colonised by millions of bacteria and if they manage to penetrate through a cut or crack they can infect a wound and may form an abscess. These bacteria can also result in the formation more serious acne, where the glands are infected and enlarged, partly due to the blockage of the follicles in which the glands are situated. In teenagers, this can be caused by massive surges in hormones, whilst too much alcohol may also play a part - think I can relate to that! Skin care is not to be laughed at, its essential.
